Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Please let us take a moment to introduce Nancy Prajer to you. Nancy, along with her family, has been an Oxford resident since 1972. Since moving to Oxford, she along with her husband Ron, has been an active member in her community.
Years back when Poseypanko Park was being developed, both Nancy and Ron helped to build and prepare the park for the little league teams of Oxford. They donated their time and skills by building the dug-outs free of charge, raking the dirt on the fields, as well as coaching their children's teams through the years in both baseball and softball.
While living in Oxford, Nancy and Ron have also donated their time as members of the Riverside Vol. Fire Co. Through their efforts, the town's children have enjoyed hot dogs and presents with Santa, and Easter eggs with the Easter Bunny. The adults of Oxford have had comfort in knowing that men such as Ron are willing to get up at any hour to protect their home. Ron currently is Riverside's Fire Chief, one of many positions he has held through the years at that company.
Back in 1999, Nancy was diagnosed with Non Hodgekins Lymphoma. Her treatment lasted six months, and she went into remission for only three years. As NHL is a slow growing disease, Nancy opted for no further treatment at that time due to the fact she hasn't any medical insurance.
Although Nancy has had complications with her heart from her first round of chemotherapy, she has been fairly healthy. Two and one half years ago, Nancy developed bladder cancer as well. She has incurred many doctor and hospital expenses over the course of the years.
Complications from the bladder cancer has put Nancy in the hospital many times for surgery and treatment. She, again, needs treatment for the Lymphoma. Unfortunately, each treatment costs near $20,000.00 and cannot be afforded. Nancy will not qualify for Medicare until six months from now.
We at the Riverside Vol. Fire Co, hope to lessen her financial worries, help defray costs, and help her get some treatment so she can attend her only daughter's wedding in July.
Without help, these things may not be possible. We would like to help this gracious woman who has given so much to all of us, and to our town, have the treatment she so deserves.

Thank you, and hope to see you on May 17th.
